Preventing hair loss

Hair Loss is Common

Approximately half of men and a quarter of women experience some form of hair loss in their lifetime. Hair is a complex and living part of your body. While the average scalp is covered with more than 100,000 hair follicles, no new follicles are formed after birth. On a typical day, everyone will shed between 50-100 hairs, however, consistent hair loss of 150 hairs or more a day is considered to be significant hair loss.

Hair Loss in Men

Male pattern hair loss (Androgenic Alopecia or Androgenetic Alopecia) is the most common form of hair loss in men, and as time progresses it becomes more and more pronounced. Typically, men with male pattern baldness experience a gradual thinning of the hair and/or rising of the frontal hair line as thick hairs are replaced by thinner hairs or are simply not replaced at all.

Hair loss in men can occur in adolescents as young as 16. By 30, 25% of men will have noticeable hair loss. By 40, almost half of men have lost a significant amount of hair. As startling as these statistics seem, you don't need to be one of them. Thanks to Dr. Lewenberg's Formula, there is nothing inevitable about losing your hair.

Hair Loss in Women

While it's not as widely acknowledged, 40% of all hair loss cases occur in women. Female pattern hair loss (Androgenic Alopecia or Androgenetic Alopecia) can begin at any point during or after puberty, but is most noticeable during or after menopause. Most women with this condition find their hair slowly thins over the entire scalp. Hair normally becomes thinnest on the top of the head and the crown, although thinning or receding along the hairline can also occur. Hair loss in women is not just genetic. There are several causes, including hormone changes from birth control or pregnancy, anemia, and even harsh styling products like perms.
